The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is an international research institute that advances systems analysis and applies its research methods to identify policy solutions to reduce human footprints, enhance the resilience of natural and socioeconomic systems, and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

INSF - IIASA Postdoctoral Fellowship

INSF will fund up to three highly qualified, early-career postdoctoral researchers to carry out interdisciplinary research in fields of mutual interest at both INSF and IIASA, which include but are not limited to environment, energy, ecology, natural resources, demography, and research methods in the field of systems analysis.

Please note that candidates will have to apply through both the IIASA application system and on the INSF website

Take note that you are not able to save your progress in the Onlyfy Portal – it is therefore recommended you prepare all your information in advance and then copy and paste it into Onlyfy and hit the “submit” button.  
Your application cannot be edited once submitted, so please pay attention to detail and make sure answer all questions. 

Please us the following template to lay out your proposed research plan: proposal form. This template will need to be uploaded as part of your application. Applications have to be submitted through an online application portal (see link below).

Candidates should have held their PhD for less than five years at the application deadline. Eligibility can be extended if the applicant can document maternity/paternity leave, a longer illness or national service.

IIASA does not do lab-type research and therefore has no labs.

Also please note that the fellowship requires you to be present at IIASA; please do not apply if you need to stay away from the institute for you research, or expect IIASA to fund field research.
